I while back I bought a goldfish (Lionhead), I call him Buster. His home is with some other goldfish, that at the time, were a bit bigger than him. In just a couple a months this fish is HUGE! He quicky out grew the other fish. My question is this. Do you think he was given something to make this happen. He is a beautiful, healthy guy that I love dearly. I was just wondering.

Maybe, (thinks toughtfully) but he could just be a special fish that got a large growth spurt...... cool

Goldfish can grow fast. It is unlikely that your lionhead was given anything speical to make him grow. What most likely happened is that your lionhead was given more space and better feedings when it was a baby. Which has allowed him to grow at his natural rate. While your other goldfish were most likely stunted by over crowding when they were babies. Goldfish grow the fastest during their first year. Every year after the growth rate slows down.

Funny you should mention that. While I was away on vacation of just over two weeks, I noticed my pet store Telescope grew bigger than my imported Ranchu! When I got my Ranchu a few months ago, the telescope was about half her body size, now they're equals.
