I don't have any test results, sorry but tests are pretty pricey and I don't have much $$$.

Tank's 55 gallons, been running for... a month I guess. Filter is uhh... Emperor 400 Biowheel Filter. I change the water every week about 10%, looking for some bigger bins so I can do more. There's 4 fish, the black moor who has the odd scales, a comet, a telescope, and a ryukin. I use aquasafe conditioner. No meds. I feed my fish flakes and soaked pellets. Only unusual findings are those weird scales... He's acting fine as usual, I just noticed today that a few of his scales (looks like three) were discolored, kinda gray looking? Did he lose them? krazy.gif Look at the photo unsure.gif

I'll try to get a clearer one :\

Oh sorry I forgot, I do have the pH of the water in the tank, it's about 7.2ish (between the two colors for 7 and 7.4)

Hi,At this point,it's really hard to say what exactly caused it. Could be anything from a scrape on an ornament to a scrap with another fish/the beginnings of a fungal/bacterial problem, etc I noticed that you're somewhat under the reccommended filtration though for a 55 gallon,so you're going to have to watch that, especially as your fish grow and produce more waste. That filter may not be quite enough to keep the tank in tip top shape.
With what ever it is that's caused this, your params right now are of the utmost importance.Poor water quality can take that little scale problem ,and turn it into much bigger problems if you're not careful.
Do you have a test kit for the rest of your readings? As this tank has only been up a month,we need to know if it's cycled, and the rest of the param readings.

As I've said, I don't have a test kit.

The tank should be cycled:\ I used media from my old tank and let that sit for a few weeks and sprinkled food here and there to jump start it... Then I moved them in.

I have seen him fighting with the comet a bit, being chased by him and all. But I dunno.

Working on getting test kits but... they're really expensive sad.gif

As Sharon said, it is so important to know what the water is like at all times. Until you get tests I would suggest daily changes of 20-30%. With the tank being new (even though seeded) and being stocked pretty good, your filter isn't doing 10x the gallons it should, so that will also need to be addressed.
But I agree it looks like missing scales, so he could've scratched on something.
