Hello~

Question about one of my orandas.

My red cap oranda has develop a tiny lump/bump or sore on it's left side a few centimetres from it's side fin. The bump/lump or sore about the size of a ball-point pen tip. It looks as if it's under the scales because one scale is raised to allow the bump/lump or sore to show through. The base of the bump/lump or sore is red and ontop (the raised part) is white. I don't see anything coming out of it at the moment.

My red cap shares the tank with two other fantails. One is a black moor, and the other is a calico oranda. I had a goldfish in there with them, but had to recently remove him yesterday from the tank because he was being so aggressive with food and pushing around the red cap oranda a lot. That's why I'm thinking it could possibly be a sore from the goldfish being so rough on him. It's weird because this goldfish has lived with moors and orandas all his life, and now he's being a '######' towards them all, especially when it's feeding time.

Here is a picture I took of my redcap with the lump/bump sore on it's side. I hope it helps a little...

Anyways, hope you can help me out! I hope it isn't infectious! I love all my fishes dearly. Especially my calico oranda. He's one of a kind. He has a only one eye, a curve tip in his tail fin, a crooked lip and is happy as ever. I have a huge heart for the 'reject' fish. They have the most character out of all 'normal' fish. To see him get sick would break my heart! Any of them would, but Cy (Cyclopes for short (calico oranda)) is my darling.

Thank you for your time!! I look forward hearing back from anyone that can help me! Thanks!!!

First of all Welcome to the site smile.gif .
Next if you could answer any of the questions in the box above would help. I am no expert at diseases so I will let the more experienced guide you through for treatment. In the picture, the scales looked a little bit raised. When you view it from the top does it looks sort of like a pine cone? If so it Could be a sign dropsy. That is all I have to say for now and I hope somebody else will see this topic and help you out.

Thank you for your response back I appreciate it and thank you for the welcome!

As for my fishes scales, no, when I look ontop the scales are all flat, EXCEPT by the effected area where one is lifted. I also thing he is forming one on his near the base of his tail. Not too sure. He's not moping around or anything. He's frisky, healthly looking and seems to be happy. I'm just concerned on what these 'lumps/bumps' or 'sores' are.

Thank you for your help! If anyone else can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it!! Thank you!

How is the fish today? Are you able to answer any of the questions in the box near the top of the page? It could help pinpoint the problem if you were able to. From the appearence it looks like what one of my orandas had developed a while back where the scales were slightly raised in the infected area but it was a whole row. I'm still not sure what it is but after I fed mine anti-bacterial food for a little while it went away. Hopefully someone will see this post soon and reply.

Thank you for getting back to me! I appreciate it!!

As for my red cap oranda, he's alive and well! It was a few sores from the other fish bulling him. The sores disappeared in 3 days after I posted my first post.

Thank you again for all your help! biggrin.gif I appreciate it!!!!
