Alright guys, I made it back to NY late Wednesday night. I knew some things were going on with some of my goldies but didnt know the extent of it until I got home. My pearlie, Hiro, is laying on his side, bloated. He is also splotched with red spots. Septicemia? I have him in a 10 gallon with Maracyn 1 and 2 right now. Poor thing is still hanging on. Ive expected to find him dead 2 mornings in a row now. (I'm sorry Fred!!)

2nd problem is I have a ranchu with a big sore on his back. His scales are gone and its almost a perfect circle. Could it be bacterial? He eats fine and acts like his normal self.

3rd is I have a ryukin who hides behind a log all day, just comes out to eat. I assume that the water quality is the issue with this one. Before I got back, nitrAtes were off the chart. I have done two big water changes in 2 days and they are now back to normal.

Also my moor has fungus yet AGAIN on his tail but this should be easily remedied as Ive got it to go away before.

I guess I really just need help with the first two. All the first 3 fish are in different tanks too.

Please help!! heartpump.gif

Oh! sad.gif

I'm too ignorant to help.

But I'm rooting for you all.

What a homecoming Erin, you poor thing sad.gif

The only thing I would add is if you can, start feeding medicated food - especially for your ranchu. Bacteria that causes wounds/ulcers has invaded internally so I would try to get some meds inside.

So the water's all good now?

Trinket
So sorry you have to deal with sick fish Erin sad.gif but glad to see you safely home smile.gif It sounds like you are doing what you can. Do you have any medicated food as Jen suggests? I have had the same tiny red spots on Sorbet and she is doing much better after some very large water changes and medicated food..I think it was high nitrates with her.
vmlola
sad.gif OMG Erin, what a home coming! Glad you made it home safely though and I hope you are able to get the fish back to their healthy, normal state!

Do you have the foods on hand? Keep us posted on the progress.
glitterfish
Thanks everyone for the replies.

I do have MediGold which I started feeding the ranchu tank today. The pearlie doesnt eat anything but he is still hanging in there. Poor thing.

The ryukin is doing better now after the water changes. I assume nitrates were the culprit here for all. sad.gif

Jen, the water is not perfect in the nitrates but a lot better than 160!! Closer to 50-60 now. I will do another water change tonight.
LaurieP
OUch what a mess to come home too. Looks like Jen gave some pretty good advice, can't add anything. Just wanted to wish you luck.
glitterfish
Thank you Laurie! heartpump.gif
Spaz
No advice, but if the fishies are the ones in your siggy, they're gorgeous! Fishy hugs to them all smile.gif I hope they get better!
glitterfish
Thanks, Spaz! smile.gif

Update on the ranchu, the spot is getting smaller!! Thats the good news. Hiro is still laying on his side. I did a water change on his QT last night and re-added meds. He is pineconed with red veins showing on his body. Also his tail and fins are very frayed away. cry3.gif Im doing all I can for him but I do not have high hopes that he will survive.
Devs
sad.gif Erin,I too am sorry to hear that your fish are sick again.Poor Hiro though may very well allready have some organ damage though,so be prepared for the worst-especially if he's not eating. Do you happen to have any idea at how long he's been without food?

Oh Erin, I am very sad to read this! How horrible for you as I know how happy you were when you got him! Maybe he will pull through with all you are doing for him!

I'm glad the others have improved!
LaurieP
Erin, I too am sorry to hear he isn't doing better. Hopefully you can pull him thru it.
Keep us posted.
LaurieP
How are things going Erin?
glitterfish
Hey guys!

Hiro is still alive! I moved him into a bucket of fresh water with airstone and he seems more active. His tail and fins are so messed up I think its hard for him to swim now. He is still hanging on though.
Devs, he has probably been without food for a week now. I will try to feed him again tomorrow.
The ranchu's spot is all but gone! Can barely tell anything was ever there. smile.gif
LaurieP
Good news, I hope he makes it.
glitterfish
I put a couple MediGold pellets in the bucket and theyre gone so thats good news right? smile.gif
small_ranchu
Erin,
I wish the best for him and the others.

That's a very good sign Erin.If he would have gone off of food any longer, you would have had to force feed ,and that's no fun.Try to feed him as much as he'll eat in two minutes twice a day as he really needs to get enough in him to start working him back to 100 %.Glad to hear that he's still with us. exactly.gif
dana
Erin - i don't have any advice, just sympathy and hopes for a full recovery. Hang in there - we're all rooting for you!
Dana.
glitterfish
Thanks everyone. smile.gif

I will now start feeding him more now that I know he will eat. Takes him a little time but its better than nothing.
small_ranchu
Any good news , Erin?
glitterfish
He is still alive today. But he did not eat pellets last night. sad.gif
small_ranchu
How about the others?
glitterfish
The others I think will be fine. smile.gif
Katalyst
Geeze I just got back myself, I"m sorry to hear the news. sad.gif
glitterfish
Thanks, Kat. smile.gif
Trinket
Erin- any news on Hiro? Rooting for him heartpump.gif
JenW
Sending good thoughts your way Erin - I hope the little guy pulls through this heartpump.gif
glitterfish
Hiro has stopped eating and just lays on the bottom of the bucket. I change 100% of the water daily and there is a airstone in there too. He is all blotchy, almost bruised looking in some spots. His tail is a stub and is bloody looking at the ends and his poor little fins are frayed. cry3.gif I dont know what I can do. Do you think I should put him back in the 10 gallon and do another round of the Maracyn's?
Katalyst
Just checking in on you and your little guys Erin, you know I'm too new at this to help. I'm sure the calvery will see this soon, until then hang in there.
LaurieP
Sorry to hear this.

I think you would be the best judge Erin. Do you think he looks like fighting or giving up? That would tell you your answer.

Take care sweetie, it is hard I know. We are here to help if we can.
glitterfish
Thanks Laurie. I think he has given up. cry3.gif I think tonight I will put him into the 10 gallon to see how he reacts and judge from there.
JenW
That's what i'd do Erin - it's worth a shot. Will you give the maracyns a try?
glitterfish
Yes. Is one better for this than the other or should I go with both again? I tried to feed him a pellet but he spit it out. Not a good sign. sad.gif
glitterfish
Just an update to say he is still hanging in there. I tried to forcefeed him a pellet but he wouldnt eat it. When I take the towel off the bucket he does try to swim a bit but other than that he is on his side all the time.
Trinket
It's so worrying for you, I know what you're going through. I had my Braveheart pull through a week of not eating after an illness. Hang on to hope. Did you add the meds? Wishing him strength heartpump.gif
JenW
Erin, I think because he's weak, it may be best to go with only one Maracyn and I think the best would be maracyn two as it treats the most common pathogens.

I'm saying a prayer that he pulls through and let us know how he goes with M2.

You've got my prayers too. If we all direct positive thoughts in your direction, only the best could possibly happen. Hang in there Erin.

Dana.
glitterfish
Thanks for the kind words guys. I have not yet added medication as Im somehow afraid it will be too much for him. He is still hanging in there today though. I will keep updating you as what I decide to do!
small_ranchu
I wish the best for you as well
glitterfish
Another nightmare for poor Hiro! I woke up today (around 3pm!) and saw the towel that I keep over the bucket was caved in(Im guessing that one of the cats was the culprit). The towel was submerged on the fish. I lifted the towel and the water was all soapy and foamy!! I expected poor Hiro to be dead. I hurried and carried the bucket to the kitchen and he was still alive! I hurried and changed the water out. Im just glad that the cats didnt get him. sad.gif
vmlola
sad.gif OMG! Poor baby! He is a fighter thats for sure! Glad you woke up in time! How is he tonight?
glitterfish
He is doing the same. Still not eating. I am shocked that he is still alive. Poor little thing..
Trinket
What a trooper though. Miracles can happen.
LaurieP
HOw is is going Erin?
glitterfish
Still alive but no change guys.
BeancurdTurtle
Keeping my fingers crossed. I hope he recovers.

sad.gif Wish there was something that could be pinpointed to his problems! Hes holding on thats for sure! heartpump.gif
glitterfish
I just changed his water and the "bruising" appears to be less. I dont see how he can be improving though as he hasnt eaten in I dont know how long!
