sad.gif OMG!!!! That poor goldfish! How horrible! I'm guessing the others passed away! cry3.gif
katmad
sad.gif that reminds me of my friend's fish, she has two 4/5 inch comets in a 5 gal 'tank'. they are well kept ( frequent water changes, filter etc) and seem healthy enough given their environment, but they have absolutely no room to swim and it makes me very sad.
FishCrazy
wow................... so thats why hope the other fish didn't die sad.gif

I am so glad you posted that Koko . Sometimes people just won't believe you when you tell them that they really do require all that space. Now maybe since they can see first hand what it looks like , maybe they will believe that little bitty fish will soon grow up to be a big guy and needs the room to keep from struggling like that poor little guy. Poor little thing

Not to change the subject , but he had another video on there about an oranda that demands human contact. Not that I advocate petting your fish ( messes up their slime coat) , but check it out it is cute. Just goes to prove the saying that orandas are just big lovable swimming puppies. And they say fish do not have personalities. yeah they do heartpump.gif

The huge fish isnt one of the originals.
I doubt its 3 years later as well.
Probaly someone making a point that they can grow that big.
bettaqueen
I think you might be right. If you look at some of their other videos they have posted they have a lot of goldfish videos including one where they are in a 55 gallon tank. Maybe they purposedly were trying to get that point accross about size.
mrbumblebee
I agree, the video certainly makes a good point anyway exactly.gif
BadBoyzon9
Nah,If fish put in small place, they wont grow that big...not all goldfish can reach that big....
mrbumblebee
I agree, it's not one of the original fish but the video makes a point nevertheless smile.gif

Actually that's the only goldfish movie that guy has, and he admits to taking advice from the fish store owner that they'd never get that big.

When I was talking about my aunt's fish in my 'Exception to the rule' thread a while ago, that's about the size of him and the tank is much smaller than the one in the vid. I'm not even sure the poor fella can turn around. He literally has about 4 or 5 inches of space front and back if he's in the centre of the tank, and probably a couple of inches top and bottom. She just keeps him because he looks good in her kitchen. It makes me sick to see huge fish like that in small tanks. Her fish isn't as fat as the one in the vid though. He's quite slim, which doesn't surprise me because he's got no room to grow!

If I had a fish that big I'd sell a kidney to make sure he had at least 50 gallons, or 100 gallons if I could sell both of them. Heck, if I could sell my liver and a lung too, I'd build the poor guy a pond!

Great looking fish though. I'd kill to have mine grow that big....

With all this breeding that's going on these days, fish are much larger than they used to be, so imagine how big they're gonna be in 100 years or so...I guarantee that someone will start breeding megafish for shows and they'll probably end up growing to 4 feet and weighing as much as a small child

it might be one of the original fishies, they sometimes change color. This is the sadest thing i've ever seen.

I have five gallon tank and ten goldfish, is it bad for them or overcrowded, they always stayed up.
Fantail
Well you might have a little overcrowding problem arcanun07. I suggest that you get a bigger tank. Plus 5 gallons is basically too small to put in a filter and stuff.

you are extremely over stocked! Single tail goldfish need a minimal of 20 gallons because they can get 14+ inches. the fancy(double tail) goldfish need a minimal of 10 gallons because they get around 8 inches

I don't see a video?

hi smile.gif ..yes your fish are common/comet they require 20g each..and 10x the filtration .I would suggest putting them into a rubbermaid tub until you can house them properly your fish in that bowl lack o2 and their water becomes toxic fast ..also you will stunt your fish .they could stop growing as their internal organs remain growing crushing them and the end result is pain and ultimately death cry3.gif I hope you give them much bigger space exactly.gif

Aww, poor fish! no.gif
