I swear I'll stop surfing craigslist from now on!

I just made a purchase of a 40-gallon tank for $40! And the couple I'm purchasing from are throwing in a bunch of whisper air pumps, sweet!!

I'm so excited, my fish will be so happy! The only problem now is... I don't have a stand. All I have is the floor, and how boring is that!? So there's my new target for my jobless self: Cheap stand that can hold 40-gallons or 500 pounds.

Uh oh, I can hear craigslist's siren voice calling to me... wacko.gif

By the way, is it okay just to rinse with super hot water for a general disinfecting, or should I do more?

smile.gif Congrats on the new tank! That was a good deal though! I would use a mild bleach solution to clean and disinfect and rinse several times with hot water once all the cleaning is done. Rinse, rinse and rinse again!

For budget, there is a lot of wood or steel stand that r made for Tv. u can find it all under $40~

Congrats! I love 40's. I wouldnt go with the steel TV stands as they can be pretty flimsy. Hopefully something affordable comes up for you soon!

Cool what a bargain. My tank is on a solid pine unit which I bought second hand lol. Does the job real good, looks nice and matches my room, all for the huge price of £20 off a car boot rolleyes.gif

Would like to see some pictures when you have it set up biggrin.gif

If you use something that is not made for aquariums be sure to re-enforce it! Before I got my "real" stands I used a tv stand. But my husband added strong metal brackets to strengthen it. Then keep a look out for a bargain on a real one.....when I am looking for a bargain I let everyone know what I am looking for & what I can spend. The more people looking the better chance for success!! I have gotten some GREAT deals this way!! exactly.gif

Thanks for the advice guys! I decided that I should save some money and just keep the tank on the floor (yeah, pretty boring). HOWEVER, I did purchase some fake floating lilly pads at a LFS today and I'm going to try going for a indoor pond-type theme.

So far so good! The lilly pads are just swirling around the surface. biggrin.gif
