Basically that really. I am sterisiling my tank at the moment and then plan on doing a fishless cycle. I am going to use liquid ammonia if I can get hold of some (do I buy this from the chemist? and how much do I add)
But I am going away over Christmas for four days. Will the cycle stall if there is no ammonia added for four days? Should I just wait until after Christmas to start cycling? I would rather start asap as the sooner I start the sooner I get fish obviously, but I am worried that the cycle wil crash in my abesnce and I will have to start all over again.

Don't worry you can starve them for those days... you could also add fish flakes. These will break down slowly, releasing ammonia while you are away.

Hi,
Im doing a fishless cycle at the minute, i had real trouble finding ammonia in the uk. I literally looked everywhere, i finally found some in Homebase, It was just a plain white plastic bottle labelled Household Ammonia. Hope that helps you to find some smile.gif
