I've just read somewhere in the food section that if you feed your fish citrus fruit, it can drop the pH. Since my pH is always running a bit too high, I was wondering if I could use citrus to help bring it down rather than constantly using treatments?
I know I can't feed them too much citrus because of the sugar, but could I get away with a weekly feeding of orange/lemon/lime/tangerine?

I think natural pH treatment would be better for my fish in the long run, and it's cheaper. The pH out of my tap is around 8, but with treatment I can get the tank pH down to around 7 and I can only keep it that way if I keep adding treatment to the tank. I can't keep adding this treatment because it's not good for the fish, but if I stop adding it, that's not good for the fish either blink.gif I don't know what to do...

ph 8 is ideal for goldfish, they love a high ph.

if you keep trying to bring it down then you are doing more harm than good as you are changing the ph too much for them.

Thanks Sandy. You're a diamond smile.gif
This means that I can stop buying that pH stuff, but I'll still end up spending the cash I save on something else for the fish
