My friend recently got a 69L set up to get some tropical fish, last week she bought 6 platys, they were all doing fine but now she says that one of them seems not well. She says it's dorsal fin is clamped and when she feeds them it never gets there in time to eat any as it moves really slow.

I don't know much about her set up apart from, that it hasn't been up long, she uses a fluval 2 filter, and the fish are only small, not sure exactly the size. Dun think she tests the water either :-/

Please could you help in any way?

Thanks for any info at all.. i know it's not much to go off !

I would suggest your friend obtains a test kit as soon as possible. Are the fish scratching themselves against objects or flashing as clamped fins can be an indicator of parasites. However water quality problem must be ruled out first.Have your friend take a sample of water to LFS and have it tested and post back with results tell them not to take normal for an answer get them to write down exact results.Do they use de chlorinator to make the water safe for fish.
