I used to have a Betta that lived for 4 years, in just a bowl. (before i knew the requirements), now i have 2 commons in a pretty tank in the basement. My mom is finally liking the fish thing and she wants a Betta for the kitchen biggrin.gif yay! =D i'm looking into the 5 gal. tanks on Big Als, that have the micro whisper filter, hood& light. i thought i would share my excitement biggrin.gif

It's in the kitchen. It's really nice, but there's no filter so it needs more care:
- 50% water change every 2 days
- Full Spectrum spotlight for the live plants
- Warm room instead of a heater

A good cylinder vase can be expensive, but some moms have a bit of cash. smile.gif

Here's the occupant, lounging in the leaves last night:

I still can't get over what a beautiful setup and fish you have Dan. Dan if right Ciscokid. Since you are putting him in the kitchen you may not have to use a heater. The room may be warm enough. you could always get a 3 gallon kit with filter, airpump and light. That way you would only have to change the water once a week. I am excited for you.

smile.gif How exciting, helping your Mom set-up a betta tank! You know you can get the cheap 10 gal tank sets with everything included, and usually the filters are small so that the water flow is not too strong. That is what I have my betta in. heartpump.gif
