well the two fish have been indoors in the 50gal tub for a week and a half now. The water in the tub is 18-19*C, and the water is salted to 0.3%

i used interpet anti-ulcer 2 step treatment last week and have started dosing with genesys (Koizyme).

i'm just after photographing the ulcers and i think they have worsened again....

this was taken before doing the pp treatment on 24th oct

Jude, do you have the pure PP - in crystal or powder form? If so, I'd make that into a paste. A tablespoon or two, mixed with just enough water to make it a thick paste. And put that straight onto the ulcer. Even rubbing in the pure PP onto the fish directly helped with an ulcer a friend had on his koi.

The "today" picture looks a little less irritated than the one from October, but its really best to tell when you see it in person.

Did the ulcer ever get better since it started, and if so, after what treatment did you see the most improvement? smile.gif

thanks Andrea! i have the pp in a powdered crystal form which i added a few drips of water to and applied to both fish as a paste on 24th october, i have not repeated this treatment as lozbug stated in her instructions that this treatment should only be carried out once as it can do as much harm as good. there has been no improvement with these two ulcers but i have managed to heal 3 other ulcers over the summer and that was done using myaxzin mainly. Perhaps i should start to use it again and it might have more effect now with the warmer tub temperatures.

If the other medication was more successful, then yes, by all means, try it on your two koi as well.

thanks, i'll start to use the myxazin again tonight!

I don't own any koi by the way....but i would love some! LOL!

did you put hydrogen peroxide on the Ulcer? You probably did. The warmer water should help them heal. I would feed medicated food for two weeks as well. Have you thought about doing a scrape to try and identify the culprit?

well still no improvement...getting worse if anything! the big comet now also has frayed blood streaked tail too cry3.gif i treated tonight with hydrogen peroxide and am still dosing with myxazin...they are also not mad on food at the minute which is worrying.

is there anyway you can get medi-koi food? Or any kind of medicated food for them?

Both Debride and Medi-koi medicated food have antibiotics in them to kill what ever it is the fish has. I think you should try and get some of this stuff and feed it for two weeks.
