Anyone know of any good ones other than Progold? All my nice high quality Hikari lionhead and everythingn has those darn color enhancers that are making my beautiful calicoes go all orange… if I wanted orange fish then I would have bought orange ones! Also my white ones are going orange too which I really dont want. I really want to give my two guys who are supposed to have headgrowth the growth enhancers but its ruining their colors. So mostly Ive just been giving the guys Progold and I want to vary the diet more. Any suggestions?
(BTW my one orange fish is really nice and dark orange so it is helping him.)

I didn't know that progold wasn't colour enhancing. I've been feeding it for a few months now and my panda oranda's head has turned a canary shade of yellow! lol

I was having that problem with my red-cap, was turning kind of pinkish. What works for me is feeing 3 times a day, if you have time that is. I feed a bit of the color-enhancing (and wen enhancing) food in the a.m., then when I get home from work, they get usually a bit of something frozen (brine shrimp or blood worms) or a vegetable, then at night a little bit of something freeze-dried. I only feed a small amount at these feedings, but my fish are growing a lot, oranda's wen is growing, and they have bred. I think the frequent small feedings of a varied diet are doing good, and no more color change on the oranda.
Hope this helps!

I have the same problem with my wakins, and they are supposed to have clear edges of orange towards the rest of their white coloring, while the white turns kind of orangy on their belly. I will skip the red pepper when I do my next batch of gel food, and I just read on the package of Bio-Blend that there is also color enhancing ingredients in there....
There are not many options in the sinking food category without color enhancers...

Did you try Rick's seafood flakes yet? They sink pretty fast, but I am not sure about the color enhancer in there.

Well, I'm not sure if your into cheap food, but my Wardley's crumbles don't seem to have any color enhancers....Neither do the floating pellets

I don't feed floating pellets, since I had so many floating fish, and they have been tremendously better with the sinking kind. But Wardley makes a whole range of goldfish food, so I guess I am gonna have a stroll down the food isle at Petsmart to see what they have available.
Or I experiment around with the ingredients of the gelfood some more, although I prefer if my kitchen wouldn't look like a war zone every time I make the food....

My Oranda, Ethel, had jet black Fins and Tail with black lips. She is almost all orange now. Her sister, Miss Chantelaine, on the other hand still has her black markings and all. (I got her because she looked like a drag queen

It may not be the food - it may simply be a matter of genetics. That is what they were programed to do.
