Constipated Goldfish

Ok my ryukin and oranda have been constipated so for the past few days I have only been feeding them peas. They gobble up the peas and appear to be fine but are still constipated even though i have fed only peas in the last few days (they are microwaved till mushy then i feed the soft inside)Is it normal to take this long to get their digestive systems in order again?

well as you know , you are much better at this than me, but from what i could find from past post and post on other message boards for you, it looks like maybe you should hold off on feeding them for a day and see how they are doing... but as far as i can find, peas seem to be the best remedy, good luck... i hope your fishies feel better soon....

My poor fish was constipated too and he just now got over it (It lasted about a week). It was hard but I only fed him like 2 peas a day. His stomach was really fat too. I think it would also help to feed them fresh lettuce, but just a little. To answer your question, with my experience it did take awhile to get over.
Did you by any chance feed them the gel with the baby food? That s what got my fish. I'm not going to feed him that anymore.

Yup that was it I stopped feeding them gel food too. Hopefully they get over it soon.

Have you tried adding some salt to the water? It helps. Also, taking them completely off their feed for 2 - 3 days might be of benefit. Hope they are pooping again soon!

Yupi took them off of all food the first day ill add some salt today.lol its water change day They seem to be getting better.

Yep I wouldnt feed for two days then straight peas for three days nothing else.
