My friend and I went to petland today. I saw a betta there, he was metallic teal (I think that is the right word for the color) and get this:

He had a black stripe running down his face in between his two black eyes. What also made him so special, is that on each side of the stripe, running down to the bottom of his gill plates, his head was pure white!

Ugh! I wanted to bring him home so bad, but I already have enough bettas! My prettiest betta I have is metallic pink that seems pearlescent, with some of the pink blending into purple that is pearlescent. Still some areas look sort of silver-ish. I got him from Meijer. Each week they had one of these stunners in and I kept telling myself no. I finally gave in and bought one, and what do you know? After I bought him, I never saw bettas with this coloration there again!

I sooooo need a digital camera..... sigh

If this beautiful fish is calling your name, then you should in fact get him. smile.gif And pick up a digicam while you are out so we can all see your pretty babies! wink.gif

I'm not very good at talking people out of things, huh?

Tempting, tempting, tempting.

But I'd have to buy a new five gallon tank for him.... Thats the main reason I didn't buy him, cause all I'd be able to afford right now is a one gallon goldfish bowl to put him in, and I know that is frowned upon by some.

I woudl be tempted to get him too. you might be able to get by with a one gallon unheated bowl for a SHORT TIME unitll you upgrade him to a 5 gallon heated , filtered tank. You will just have to make sure he is in a warm area of the house and that the water stays above 72 degrees. make sure he is not by doors, windows or vents. It also will require more frequent water changes-like every two or three days.
