hi
when setting up my 12 gal tank for my new little pearlscale i needed a big 'pot' to pot my plants, as i wanted them all together rather than scattered around the tank in little pots. The best thing i could find was one of those rectangular plastic containers that you get from chinese/indian takaways (i dont know if u get them in the US but they are what takeaway food usually come in the the UK)
It's clean, dishwasher and microwave safe plastic, with no sharp edges, so is it ok to have in my tank????
Hope someone can help.
Thanks
Kx

If it is rated microwave safe - such that it has plastics designed to NOT leach out in the food when heated in the microwave, it is almost certainly ok for use in the tank. If it is only microwave safe in that YOU have deemed it such because it does not melt under average microwave use, it may not be.
Dishwater/microwave safe items if made specifically for that use, are good for tanks. Items not designed that way can release bad chemicals into food reheated in them, and, I am pretty sure, will, over time, release these same chemicals into the tank water.

it is definitely microwave safe as it says so on the bottom and lid of the container. They are also designed specifically for that purpose- ie. re heating leftover takeaway!
so, phew! for once i went out on a limb and did the right thing, my fishy intuition must be improving!!
