well the ulcers haven't improved much from the pp treatment two weeks ago so now that i'm home from london i'm filling up my 50gal tub to bring my big comet and spot indoors to see if we can get the temp up a bit to get their imune systems going. i'll have three filters running on it gining just under 8x filtration in total. i've salted to 3% and won't be able to heat due to it being a plastic tub but hopefully the heat from the house which is sitting at 25*C will warm the water as my unheated tank is currently sitting at 21*C (but it does have lighting helping to warm it.

the koizyme typically hasn't arrived yet so i'm thinking of adding interpet anti ulcer to the tub as i've been using myxazin for so long i think they are probably immume to it!

right i'm off to pinch some media from the tank to get the tub going!

well the fish are now indoors and the water temp was 11* last night when i put them in the tub, which was a couple of degrees up on outside. over night the tub has risen to 14*C so hopefully another night in the house will raise the temp some more. I dosed the water with the anti-ulcer treatment and i have to add another dose on sunday.

the koizyme arrived today so i will begin treating the tub tonight and will start to treat the pond at the weekend after i get rid of a few more leaves from it!

I am thinking that you mis-typed when you put 3% and you should have typed .3%.

It may have been better to have gradually introduced your fish to the salt, by starting at .1% and moving up to .3% over the course of 24 hours, but it sounds like your fish have made the adjustment to the salt without difficulty.

Please keep us posted on your progress smile.gif

yeah sorry i meant 0.3%! LOL!

the pond has been at 0.3% for a bit already so it was just moving them rom like to like so they where fine!

water temp is now almost 19* without adding a heater, so surely their immune systems will speed up at this temperature!

Will i have to leave these two fish in the tub all winter now or will it be possible to put them back out in the pond at all?

I would wait and see how they heal up. Ulcers can take a long time...or thats what Im finding with one of my fish. I'd think once they are well healed they could be put back by reducing the tank temp slowly back to the pond temp and taking it from there..good luck smile.gif
