i woke up this morning at looked in the tank to see one of my 3white cloud mountain minnows missing! krazy.gif i looked everywhere for her.in the plants, under ornaments, even in the gravel.but she was nowhere to be seen.so i wondered if the goldfish had eaten her,but there still babies and there mouths are way too small.so i started searching around outside the tank.and there she was ,dead on the carpet cry3.gif .my heart broke. there one only way she could have escaped.theres on a tiny gap in the lid, about 1cm,for filter wires.somehow she must have jumped through it.i couldnt believe it ,im sooo gutted. cry3.gif i hadnt even named her yet,but i think i'll call her houdinie(spelt wrong i know).i just dont know how she did such a dead on jump, its unbelievable.so anyway now theres only 2 sad.gif . i know i need at least 6 and on monday im gonna get them,3 females,2males.but for at least 6 months they'll be in a 10 liter tank (uk liters ,not us liters),with good filter and twice weekly water changes at 20%.do you think this will be okay.i heard they get depressed in groups less than six.and the three of the were doing okay together,so do you think the other two could (i know this sounds stupid but....) die of depression,(or stress of being lonely) before i get more on monday???

I used to have white clouds and they are happier in a school of at least 6. I had 4 + 6 medakas + 2 danios and they used to swim together in a school. I once had a danio that I could'nt find and then when I lifted the lid to have a better look she was sitting on top of the tank glass sad.gif

White clouds are so cool heartpump.gif

sad.gif So sorry to read about your fish! I bought four rubbermouth plecos about six weeks ago and I am down to one. Two jumped out together one night, still not sure how, just a few days after I got them and one jumped out of a different tank a few days ago. They did this at night so by the time I got up they had already died! cry3.gif Poor things, I felt so bad! We try so hard to keep them safe and they still manage to find a way out!

thanks for all your replys guys.and im sorry for all your losses.but im relieved to know it wasnt just my fish,i felt so stupied to not covering the hole, but i never expected that would happen.its strange.and why do they always do it at night?any ideas? i feed the remaining two minnows bloodworm today and they loved it,was wondering if there really meant to have it though.does anyone know?also does anyone4 have any thought on six being in a ten (uk)er tank?
Selena
I used to feed my minnows blood worms, both frozen and freeze dried and they loved it. 6 minnows in a 10gal is fine smile.gif
