This summer i bought a 30 gallon tank and put two gold fantails in it.. Over time ive noticed they arent as gold as they used to be its like they have gotten lighter and the person i got them off of said they were three years old.. Is it just losing color or is it a lack of nutrition.. HELP PLEASE!!!

sometimes fish just lose their colour intensity over time. Like blackmoors often go coppery, white, or gold in colour after a while, other goldies fade or change colour over time.
Do you have lights on your tank?? Natural light is the best colour enhancer, but tank lights are the next best thing when the fish are indoors. They also make the whole tank look brighter to your eyes, so even if the fish's colour doesnt improve, the lights will make it look better.
You can buy goldfish foods that claim to be specifically for colour enhancement, but i havent used any so i dont know what to reccommend.
Some colour enhancing foods that i have heard about on this site include red bell pepper, carrots, and spirulina (which is found in algae and algae wafers). You can see lots of great tips on how to feed your golides different foods to benefit their colours, and general wellbeing, in lots of posts in this forum.
Sadly however, some goldies just loose their original colouring over time. It's a natural process and in no way your fault. Just think of it like people getting older and changing in appearance (grey hairs etc)

For color intensity, try freeze-dried and frozen bloodworms and frozen krill. Pellet brands that I have good luck with are Pro-Gold and Hikari.
