I can never remember, can I use them simultaneously?

Thanks.

Don't make your decision until a mod responds, but I will never again use two kinds of meds at the same time. I lost 6 fish in a matter of 5 minutes when I did.

What did you use, Carol? yikes.gif

As far as Parasite Clear and Maracyn I, I do not see drugs that in direct competion or such, but I do not know hwo the different antibiotics in the PArasite Clear and Maraycyn would compete or react.

What are you treating for? Could you use the straight Praziquantel (parastite treatment) instead of Parasite Clear? This is compatible with the Maracycns.......

Well, I'm treating Dropsy (for the second time) with the Maracyn but the fish is still failing (clamped fins, and all around she has a sick appearance) so I wanted to treat her with Parasite Clear because she has about 99% of the symptoms listed on the box for internal AND external parasites.

I guess, though I do not know the fish and cannot see the amount of distress she is in, I would recommend using salt to control the parastites while you get the dropsy under control.

Parasites can exasperate any condition, making it worse, but when push comes to shove, the dropsy is an urgent, life threatening condition that needs to be addressed immediately if not sooner. The parasites can wait until a more opportune time.

Salt and Maracyn are compatible. The salt may kill some parasites, will definately slow them down, and will not interact poorly with the Maracyn.....

Dropsy, huh..... man, that is too bad. sad.gif I am sending my best wishes to you..... 00001649.gif

Mine was a tragedy caused by adding a parasite treatment (can't remember the name - trashed it after the tragedy) that had malachite green in it. I was using Maracyn 1 and 2 plus salt. The lfs "expert" knew this, and told me that the med he was recommending was compatible. Turns out that malachite green and salt is an instantly lethal mixture. I lost 6 and would have lost all if I hadn't had my other tank to quickly move my last 2 fish into.

The main thing is you were smart to check with a moderator here in Koko's before mixing meds - most of the lfs people who are selling the meds don't know what they are doing. I don't know what I would do without all the great people here.

Thank you so much, I'll be using salt then. But before I do, is it ok to use it??? I read somewhere that when treating a fish with Dropsy one shouldn't use aquarium salt because it can hurt the fish even more. When a fish has Dropsy your supposed to use Epsom salt because epsom salt brings down swelling (and regular aquarium salt causes the fish to swell) Is this true??? Is it safe to use regular aruarium salt? The fish isn't swollen now, and 90% of her scales are down (she has the kind of Dropsy that comes and goes and never really clears up)
