I read somewhere that you can feed earthworms to goldfish. Is this true?
sandy
Yes you can as they are a good source of nutrition. If they are big then you will need a sharp knife to cut them but dont take from anywhere if theres a chance of pesticides or fertilizer used recently.

tubifex worm is another good one as well. I wish I could find some.

I've been investigating creating my own wormfarm so my fish have healthy worms to eat. I saw some worm farms on ebay for $80 but that is a bit too expensive for me. If anyone here knows how to make a cost effective wormfarm, I would love to know smile.gif

Don't use tubifex! They almost always have parasites and other nasty things. They are usually raised in basically sewage. ill.gif

I have some dried earthworms but have not fed them to my goldies. For some reason they gross me out!

bleagggggh! I agree, so nasty (but good for the fish).

I've fed earthworms to my goldies before but only two, Ed and Fuzzy, really like them. The other guys seem scared of the worms when they're wiggling around

Perhap Ed and Fuzzy are male and the others are the female.. jk

yeah you can, but like sandy said, they could carry parasites and mayhave harmfull stuff on them from fertaliser. also, sometimes the worms can get away and they will craw deep into your gravel. personally i prefer freezedryed blood worms from omega one because they cant get away, they are parasite free and they shouldnt carry any harmfull substances smile.gif
