Some of you may have read my threads about my recent issues with my start in the goldfish keeping hobby... one of which was some chasing going on with two of my three fish and whether or not Chubsy, my new one, was female. MYSTERY SOLVED!

Earlier when I started my daily H2O change I accidently hit her with the vac as it was coming down when I was starting the siphon (yes, she seems fine... missing a few scales but currently picking threw the rocks happily as normal... threw some stresscoat in with the new water when I did my change). Well, I went to pick her up to make sure there was no serious damage and touched the spot where she was missing scales and turned her over to check the other side.... suddenly I looked at the fingers of the hand she was in and WHOA! Tiny little bubble lookin things ALL over my fingers! SAY WHAT?! I quickly put her back in the water and as she swam out from between my fingers a cloud of them exploded into the water. Chubsy really IS a girl! I guess I have good instincts! (eggs are ALOT tinier than I thought!)

Now I'm really happy I seperated her from my other two as I am DEFINATELY NOT ready to raise fry, but I guess it's good to know that if someday, when I have my apartment and the bigger tank set up I plan on (40ish gallons), I possibly could have fry if I wanted them.... and it's really good to know that if I dont, I know who I'm suppose to seperate!

Yeah, isn't it funny how such little accidents make us figure out the sex of our fish? It is definetely a sure fire way to find it out, instead of taking a good guess if there aren't any clear signs.
