I bought a bristlenose about a month ago. He's only about 3-4cm long. Just wanting to know if this is the recommended pleco for GF as he looks a bit different than the photo Koko has on the site. He looks like this:

I'm in Australia so I sometimes think that other countries may name breeds differently than we do here in OZ. My bristlenose is in my tropical tank at the moment but I will have to put him in with my GF as he gets bigger.
Thanks in advance

Hi Selena, that sure looks like a Bristlenose pleco to me, imo he is big enough to go into the goldy tank but that's up to you. Just a reminder that plecos don't like salt, even small amounts.

Thanks Annette. He looks a bit small at the moment cause my GF are a bit big. It's good to know he can go in with them eventually cause I don't have another big tank for him unless he goes in with my tandanus catfish

In general,Bristlenose are known to do well with Goldies.Every once in a while, you may run into one that's not your typical fish, though so it's always a risk to some extent until you try it,and see how they interact..
I have kept them with my Goldies for the last three years, and I've never had any sort of problem.

I have 3 bristles, one albino and 2 regular. They're very docile but get ticked at the goldfish and will physically LAY on top of the food and put their spikes out at them. I have had 2 of mine for about 5 years now, they're toughies!

Your bristlenose looks just like mine, smaller but Hoover is a year old and fully grown. Anyway a couple of more things to keep in mind for your bristlenose, they need driftwood to stay healthy they like to munch on it and it keeps their tummys healthy and the other thing is to remember that they diffentaly count in your bio load sometimes the pet store people will say they don't but they do! They are nearly as bad as goldies when it comes to being poo factories!

No offense Maceo, but the driftwood thing isn't necessary... in fact, it CAN be dangerous. Something in the driftwood has the potential to crash Ph. Koko use to have a big slab of it in one of her tanks for her bristles and her fish kept getting sick. I don't remember what it was in her situation, but it was caused by the driftwood. I use to use a small piece for my plecos but noticed after a long while the water turned a slightly "off" color. I got rid of it and my plecs have been perfectly happy for years without it.
One necessity though IMO is hiding spots. Plecos LOOOOVE to have a spot where they can chill without anyone bugging em.
