I recently aquired some new food after it was recommended to me.

I got some shrimp pellets, slow-sinking wheatgerm pellets and some mixed sinking Koi pellets. The wheatgerm hasn't arrived yet but the other 2 have and I thought I'd better ask if I'm allowed to feed them to my fish.

I was told that the wheatgerm and mixed pellets would have more vitamins and stuff than regular golfish pellets.
Even though they're not designed to be be fed to goldies, can I still do it?

Wheatgerm is fed to pondfish whether or not koi or goldies as it means less waste production, and is fed in the autumn as the fishes environment cools down and the fish become slower. The same amount of protein etc is in most types of fish food so theres really no difference. The pellets are usually quite big so if the fish are small then you may have to break them up.
If you buy a good brand of fish food for goldfish then it will have the all the necessary vitamins so really feeding them koi food i cant see any benefit myself.

Thanks for the quick reply Sandy.

So basically, I wasted money that I could have spent on proper goldfish food.
I tried them on the new stuff and they wouldn't even touch it. They wouldn't even go near the shimp which actually says that it's for goldfish. Fussy little.... fish.gif

I think from now on I'll ask then question and then buy the product
