Hi,

I have three fish (one oranda, one fantail, one bristlenose) in a 29 gallon tank. I did a quick dip test and there is nothing wrong with my water. I change it one time a week on average. The tank has been set up for maybe three months. I have a Top Fin power filter 30 with a bio 3 filter cartrige. I put StressZyme. Stress coat and aquar salt in my tank when I do a water change. This morning I noticed they (2 goldies) were hanging down at the bottom. They would both come up when I would approach the tank. This afternoon Tom is still hanging at the bottom and I noticed a brown spot by his gil area. I put one teaspoon of Melafix in the water and took out the filter.

I hope I have given all of the correct info. Can someone help me?

can you answer the questions below:
Test Results for the Following:
-Ammonia Level?
-Nitrite Level?
-Nitrate level?
-Ph Level, (If possible,KH and GH and chloramines)?
-Ph Level out of the Tap?
-Tank size (How many Gals) and How long has it been running?
-What is the name and size of the filter/s?
-How often do you change the water and how much?
-How many fish in the tank and their size?
-What kind of water additives or conditioners?
-Any medications added to the tank?
-Add any new fish to the tank?
-What do you feed your fish?
-Any unusual findings on the fish such as "grains of salt",
bloody streaks, frayed fins or fungus?
-Any unusual behavior like staying
at the bottom, not eating, ect..?

good luck smile.gif

I am going to merge this with the post you have in Discussion - to get them all in one place.

Something to consider -when a fish or fishes hang out at the bottom, yet swim well and actively when disturbed or fed, parasites are often the cause.

A heavy load of gill flukes can sap a fish's strength and desire to exhert itself. It will, though, feel good enough to feed and react to stimulus. It sits at the bottom at other times.

If your water is really good, you may wish to consider parasites....

I dont necessarily change all the water when I do a water chenge. There have been times that I have though. It has been the only way to keep the nitrates down. I have had fish in the tank for about three months.

Im concerned if I treat him for parasites and that is not the problem, will it do harm to him or my other fish?

There has not been any unusual behavior till this morning. I added the bristlenose about two weeks ago.

I copied the above from my original post that answers some questions about filters and size and stuff.

Thank you for all the info! I will look into parasite stuff.
