I have 2 gold snails (not sure if apple or mystery - same thing?) and wonder when and how I can add them to my new 55 gallon tank in process of being cycled with 4 goldfish - ammonia level 1.0 which I'm working on lowering....is it too soon to add the snails...will they tax my ammonia even further??? Do they add alot of waste to worry about? Should I float the bag in new tank for awhile like I do the new fish? Thanks for help

Hi Laurie!

They do make a lot of waste in a tank. Sometimes I think more than a goldie!! I would wait until your tank is cycled as the slightest change can kill them.

smile.gif Hi Laurie and welcome to Kokos.Congrats on having a 55 gal.
How many fish do you have ccycling the tank by chancce, and what are their sizes? What kind of filter are you using on the tank?
Erins right about not adding the snails yet. High traces of ammonia or Nitrtes will do them in,for sure.
