Ponderosa Power
I've had my Hikari betta pellets for a long time, and I think they are too old and the nutritional value may have depleted. Remind me next time not to buy the big packet for just 1-2 bettas wink.gif Anyways, Hikari's great, but I might want to try something new. My female, Stormy, seems to be having some slight sbd problems that are not going away, despite fasting and peas. I'm hoping nothing's wrong.

I'd love to feed frozen bloodworms, but my parents will just not go for that kind of thing in the freezer. I'm thinking about trying the Omega One Betta food or the HBH soft betta pellets. Has anyone got experience with these two or have other suggestions? Thanks.

If you can't use frozen bloodworms, how about dried ones? I always see them in the stores but personally am grossed out by them (hence, I don't blame your parents LoL). That way you can keep them in your bedroom or something LoL biggrin.gif

I use the dried bloodworms and my bettas love them. Funny, I was just going to post on here to ask what kind of small pellets are recommended as the Wardley ones are too large.

I've already got FD bloodworms, but they contribute to swim bladder problems even more than dry pellets and should not be used more than an occasional treat.

I bought some Bettamin today. The bettas seem to like it. Its flakes mostly.

That's great to hear.. I've got a container of it too, but my bettas really hate it LoL. All my little boys and girls had their go at it and spit it back out.... several times... so back to the old food! I guess I really shouldn't be surprised.. most animals ending up in my care end up being picky... maybe it's me LoL smile.gif

I use betta bites - they are a floating pellet, but i soak them first. However - my betta seems not interested in anything that is not floating, or a fd bloodworm. I swear he only eats on treat day! I've tried flakes, nd he's not too into them either - so you aren't the only one with picky pets, believe me! I also happen to have a picky husband and two picky kids as well - aurgh!

Dana.

Im surprised they eat them to be honest. The only pellets they had were the same ones I already have and theyre too BIG. My one betta isnt eating anything now so Im afraid he wont live much longer. sad.gif

Sorry about your fish Glitterfish. How long have you had him?

Glitter, have you tried ocean nutrition betta shakerz. The pellets are so tiny. Zeke inhales them he likes them so much. The lady who had him before me said he prefered flakes. He ate them for me the first night.

I decided to get the HBH soft foods. I was going to get the HBH betta flakes, but this looked tastier and they share with the goldies who have trouble chewing hard foods. The goldies don't have their own food really, just a balanced assortment of all the different FDs and commercial brand foods plus veggies.

The soft pellets are too big for Stormy but they are easy to cut in half with my nail smile.gif Leaf likes them as well, but he likes everything.

I have had very good success with the HBH betta bites.

My bettas also like a bit of sinking shrimp pellet now and then. Also, they love homemade gel foods with peas and tuna smile.gif
Ponderosa Power
Ya know, I tried feeding tuna to my bettas and they didn't like it! Such weirdos. Are the HBH betta bites soft too? I really like that aspect. The only HBH betta food I saw were color flakes. Maybe I didn't look hard enough.

The HBH betta bites I have a hard. I haven't seen the soft ones, but they sound good. I will have to look for them.
Ponderosa Power
The container is red and metallic and it comes and krill and spirulina flavors. I just noticed that the fat % is about twice what the other foods I've fed are. What effect would that have? Maybe I'll alternate the bettas with peas, HBH, and tropical flakes, along with other treats.

Thanks Kris. 00001649.gif

He passed away about a week or so ago.

I have not tried the food you mentioned but Kennedy really likes the Bettamin flakes so Ill stick with those for now. I think it'll take forever for him to finish the container alone though! blink.gif
