The fish is an Oranda Pearscale about 3."

It has grown noticably rounder in the month I have had it. The body arches out from behind the gills to the root of the tail. It waddles, although it seems resonably active and eating. Pearscales tend to be "round" as a type I think..

Currently, she is in a 20 Gal tank by herself. Yesterday during water change the fish was put in a tub for several hrs with IPC Melafix (a natural antibiotic). I am leary of treating for unknown problems because I had an Oranda die who's main problem seems to have pregnancy.

Any ideas?

Suggestions?

Thanks,

a cross of a Oranda and a Pearlscale would probably inherit that golf-ball body shape. I was just looking at a pair of pearlscales on an auction site, and the thing that really struck me was how the body began to get wide right behind the gills. Then I read your post and thought "that sounds like the fish growing." If you've had it for a month, it's probably just started to get good food and good h20, and now he's starting to take-off. That's my thought.
