Hi,
my goldfish just laid a lot of eggs a few hours ago, and I see some are white, with white blobs inside, but some are clear, with big black blobs inside. Does big black blob = fertilized egg?

And if I move them, should I move only the black blob ones? Also how do I pry them off the glass??? blink.gif

dude - any that are white are bad. The goldish ones with black in are fertilized.
The black you see is the eyes or spine. Be gentle getting them off, maybe wiggle
them very very gentle and use a wide tipped pipette to suck them up.

you should separate the white and black eggs
the white ones=fungus and it can spread quickly
remember to be gentle
or you may burst the eggs like ie done

cant u just leave the eggs in the tank?
Tanya_woz_ere
No because the other fish will eat the eggs sad.gif

cant u gust take the other fish out and put the fish in a nother tank cause u dont want a chance of breaking the eggs biggrin.gif

The problem is that most people don't have an empty, established tank for the parent goldies to move to. It's much easier to just have a ten gallon tank to dump the fertilized eggs into than to have a fully cycled... and completely empty... 20+ gallon tank sitting around.
