Here's the DIY forum Black Oranda mentioned... are you planning on glass or acrylic? Garf has some instructions. Go to the DIY section in the menu on the left to view.

the cost of glass for the tank is almost as much as the entire tank itself.
do you think you can make a tank cheaper? a 10 cost like $12 at nnnnnn. a 29 kit at nnnnnn is like $95 but you get everything you need but the stand smile.gif

Sure is a good project. Recommend you do some research though!
DIY Glass Aquarium plans are also avalaible on the net. I got my information from the "Saltwater Aquarium" Website. Also, if you need to cut the glass yourself, check out "Glass Cutting". Be safety consious at all times, and make sure you use the right silicon. I am terible at cutting second hand glass. Last week a friend gave me a heap to cut up and make an aquarium. I now have a rubbish bin with lots of useless pieces of glass, and only managed to make a small home-made aquarium 6 inches deep. Ah well, I can probably use it to rear small fry, although at the moment it is teaming with tadpoles that I have saved from buckets in my back-yard. Keep us informed on how you go.Good Luck!

spit.gif Building a tank is a great project, but only cost efficent when building bigger ones. 75gal or above is where you save money. :goldfish
