Is any one keeping the Siamese Algae Eating Fish (Crossocheilus siamensis) with Orandas? I see they come recommended on Kokos and they are for sale on
http://www.aquariumfish.net I bought some Otos and they are cleaning my 20 gal tank very nicely but I need something that can co-exist long-term with my fish. I had some Otos before and I thought they had died and been sucked into the filter.
After reading some threads under Compatible Fish, I now think they were eaten by my Goldfish.

SAEs do great in goldfish tanks! I have had mine for several years now and they happily coexist with my goldfish. They are amazing at getting rid of barbed algae! You need A LOT of swimming space for SAEs because they grow quite large. They have to be kept in groups (3 or more). If you have only 2, the dominant SAE will constantly chase and nip at the fins of the other SAE. Also keep in mind that you will need to feed them algae tablets.

I was doing so errands and I stopped by my GFS and they had some so I just came home with 2!
I will go back and get a 3rd one. Why do I have to feed them algae tablets if there is algae in the tank?

Well, the Otos seemed to clean up the 20 gal but I don't know what to do with them because I don't want to have one of my GF eat them and get a bone stuck in its throat. Anybody in So. Cal who wants them can have them.
The Siamese seem to swim around all the time. I hardly see them eating algae. I guess that's what Kingyo meant. So, Kingyo, if I buy a couple more will they calm down? I hate to pay $6-7 and only have them swim around.

Yes, they swim around a lot and sooner or later they will get to the algae eating business. Don't get rid of the otos, they won't get eaten unless they are sick or dead. THese to fishes complement each other in the algae cleaning. Just make sure you have real SAE. Check out this article:

I think I have the Flying Fox. The GFS owner called them that but I thought it was a common name. I will split the 2 I have up. Thanks for the referral. I will add the Otos back in and watch them.
