Hello, my name is Jessica, I just signed in, I have five 2 inch goldfish and a fave year old fantail witch is about 5-6 inchs, I really want to buy a bigger tank to breed my gold fish, I want to know, am I capable of sucseeding? I've wanted all my life to breed and take care of something smile.gif My cousins have breed their betta fish, so I want to breed my goldfish. So, I really don't get how to tell my goldfish apart. Fantail goldfish, can you identify them better than just regular goldfish? Please someone talk to me, I just joined!!
The fantail we named THE GREAT MONDU SHABIBU and the five gold fish are-
Rip, Tip, Goldbug, Shiney and Specks.

One of my silver goldfish is turning gold is that normal? My cousin says they do that when they are eight months old, kind of like a growing up thing.
Bye P.S. HELP!!!!

All right, firstly--

What size tank do you have, and how many gallons and/or litres of filtration do you have with it?

Now, after that:

2 inch long goldfish are far too small to properly sex. You should wait until they're like 3 1/2 inches to 4 inches long. Information on sexing can be found at one of the sidebar links to the left.

Goldfish should not be bred until they are 2 years old, all participants.

Most commonly goldfish go from brown to orange. Then some go from orange to silver. A very very few will turn orange again. These color changes can occur at any time during a goldfish's like. One of my guys is only just starting to change color and she is a year and a half old.

i think my one remaining baby is changing colour. its just suddenly got this orangy red patch on the area around the gill last night. its just under an inch big and is 7 months old. when you say yours are 8 months old do you mean that you have had them for 8 months because 2 inches in 8 months seems a lot.
the rule about sexing is that mature females have an outy anus and the males have innies. this is only when they are old enough to breed that you will be able to tell although the females are usually bigger than males of the same age and look more round unlike the males that look more streamlined.
