We are getting a new tank for our beloved goldies (wheee) and I want to plant it up properly. We have an airstone going and wish to keep it (even though the plants will aerate the water) cos it looks nice.
I was reading about CO2 injections for the tank in order to promote plant growth and was wondering if that would be a pointless exercise if the air stone is being used at the same time.
Could you advise us on this please? We want to get it right in the planning stages before struggling later on once we get the tank and set it up for cycling.
Cheers,
Pete and Ellie

Running an airstone will reduce the effectiveness of a CO2 injector. If possible, it's best to run just your regular filter. If you are using a HOB filter, keep the water level high enough that the bottom lip of the filter output is submersed. This will reduce the disturbance at the water's surface and keep the CO2 levels high enough to benefit the plants.
