Hi,

I have two orandas, they are about 10cm from nose to tail, so about 6-7cm from head to end of body, plus another few cm in tail. Today I saw 2 tiny ranchus (about 2.5-3cm long) at the pet shop and I want to go back and get them tomorrow. They will be quarantined for about 1 month (or longer if needed) but eventually I would like to put them in the big tank (150cmLx27cmWx35cmH approx 140L) the orandas are in. Is it ok to do so given they are about 1/4 of the size of the orandas? [Plus my girl oranda is a little pushy at meal times, not to mention fast; sometimes I have to feed the boy oranda by hand to make sure he gets some food].

Thanks for your help.

I think they should be alright, you'll just have to keep a close eye on them as some goldies are more aggressive than others. In my pond I've got some 1-2 inch fry in with my big 11 inch common/comet cross. They get along just fine but then again, the babies can easily out "run" my giant of a goldfish rolleyes.gif

Hi,if I'm calculating right,140 litres is just a bit over 30 gallons. We really recommend people to try and give their goldfish at least 10 gallons per fish because of the size that they do get. Adding 2 more fish to your tank will take it over the recommended amount.Since the new fish are small, you may be able to get away with it for a bit, with a good filter and regular testing and water changes, but you'll have to look into a bigger tank in the near future. smile.gif
