Well,I think they're actually a lily. They look like this.......
Egyptian Blue Lotus So why do places call them lotus if they're actually lilies? I have some seeds of this and the seller didn't give me an instruction sheet on germinating them. Has anyone sucessfully grown these?

I hear ya, I'm big into stuff like that too. My best friend is a horticulturist, but she's not exactly savvy when it comes to aquatics. You should see my house, I have sooooooooooo many plants, everywhere. I think that I'm going to end up setting up a small tank or something with pots for these seeds. Should be interesting. I'll have to do it while the husband is at work though, otherwise I'll hear the traditional "What the heck are you DOING??!!"

LOL, mine actually ACTS put off with my hobbies, but I catch him secretly admiring my stuff. He loves the fish, that's no argument, but when it comes to my plants and such he acts like I'm a whack job, but then he asks me questions and such. He's just as big of a nerd as I am, he's just less willing to be open about it. Hehe!!!

If you are able to get them to grow PLEASE let us know, with pics

. I've read a little about them and from what I understand they are difficult to germinate, as are all lotus. I've always wanted to grow them but was reluctant because of what I'd read.

Welll Scott, from what I understand, they're not really LOTUS, they're lily. The seeds are very small. Here's a link to what I bought.

that is true erika they are blue water lilies they just call them lotus as they are very exotic flowers the Egyptians used this plant as a narcotic both for its healing qualities and as a recreational drug when soaked in wine, though this is a hotly debated topic these pics are what i found online

Yep those first 2 pics are it. GAWD, aren't they pretty??!! I think I'm going to set up some sort of terrarium system today to germinate these (hopefully!). We'll see how it goes I guess.
