I've got the basement tanks cycling with some plants in them. I plan to bring the Oranda's and plants inside this weekend. The water temps in the pond are dropping fast.

Mine have been holding pretty steady in the 62-68 degree mark, but the weather here has been strange. Do you leave any of your fish out?

Sure do. The 5 Koi, 4 Shubunkins, and all the comets stay outside. I do have to buy a new de-icer because mine died early last spring. I've been doing it for 3 years now and so far so good. I've only had one death.

Hey, that's a good track record! You're in NY, and it gets really cold there too. Seems that you all are always getting snow dumped on you too. I remember being a kid and always being jealous with how much snow falls there. rolleyes.gif

I'm right off Lake Ontario so we average over 200+ inches a year. I get my de-icers from a farm store and they work great.

ohmy.gif I had NO IDEA it was THAT much snow!!!!! That's amazing! Do you hate it, or are you one of those people that actually likes the snow?

I HATE snow. My husband and kids love it but I get so sick of it. I've lived here all my life and can't imagine living somewhere else but I dread winter. At least I get to enjoy some of my fish all winter by bringing them inside.

LOL, you're in the wrong part of the country then if you don't like snow!!! I love it, but then again, we don't get 200 inches of it!! WOW!

So how many tanks do you have in the basement?
OldHag
That's like Sweden. I've started to bring in the pondies because of the cold, I also have basement tanks. My pond is too shallow and I don't have a de-icer. How deep is your pond? I hate winter, but as you said, I'll get closer to my fish when they are inside!

I have 2 100 gallon feeding troughs and then I have two others that are 50 gallons each. I also have two sets of grow lights that are on a time to come on at around 6:30am and go off at 7pm. I have 1 Fluval Filter and then a man made filter as well. I only bring in about 10 fish, a few snails and then a lot of my plants.
