Yes its US gallons which are smaller than UK gallons, roughly meaning 8 UK gallons. I prefer though to keep them on the same line, ie 10 gallons no matter where you are and of course its a minimum recommendation as the fish grows so does the need for more water.

I understand that, but they are really tiny at the moment and should last in there until my Uni course is finished and we get our own place to live.
