I spent 3-4 hours yesterday cleaning out my 10 gallon which was infested with tiny brown snails. I dont think there were ramshorns because they have been living in my tank for months now and they don't get bigger, they stay really tiny. They must have been on some plants I bought ages ago. Just wondering the best way to treat plants for snails before putting them in the tank. I heard people give them a rinse under the tap first, but I'm not sure if that wil get rid of any egg jelly sacks.

Not sure if this was the right place to post this question or if the 'Plants' section was the better place to ask

I soak my plants in potassium permanganate for an hour to get rid of parasites... it also gets rid of snails and eggs

Thank you for the reply. I haven't heard of 'potassium permanganate' before. Can I get that at the LFS?

An easy way to get pp, is to purchase Jungle's Clear Water. It is a dilute pp solution. Here is a link to the product.
