dont worrie koko. i rode my bike to my lfs today (what a labor of love)and got the meds. mr brain is still sick but is at least swimming and eating. so far so good.

Nitrite- 30ppm
nitrate-0
amonia-0
ph-7.2
30 gallon tank-3 goldies
i feed my fish wardley goldfish flakes and crumbles
tank has been running for 2 years
30% water change every 2 weeks
The new fish is the sick one.
The dropsy is probally just from being too stressed.

I am going to move your thread into the regular section. Keep us updated on his improvement. Also if something happens and you need it returned to the 911 section.

yeah, i hope it doesnt have to be moved back. hes doing great. 1 more day of meds. ill keep him in the hospitial tank for a few days after that to make sure it doesnt come back. The odds were against him, but he made it.

Hello, this is for Fuzzy

My fantail goldfish, JoAnne, was swimming really strange, this whole week. I went to the pet store and explained how she was swimming on her side and ended up completely upside down. The guy told me about some stuff called Melefix. Dont buy it !!! It didn't help. I had heard about dropsy, but didn't think she had it, because her scales looked fine. But I also noticed she was really bloated. Yesterday, I went back and bought a medication with the brandname " Marcal" that can be used for dropsy. I put it in the tank i n the afternoon and made a small half gallon amount in a bowl. I took her out every hour and let her swim in the bolw for about 5-10 min. and put her back in the tank. By 11:00 last night, she was almost completely cured. Today,
she was fine. I did'nt feed her yesterday, because I read it might help to have her fast for one day. I am glad I did what I did, because I thought she was a gonner. Hope you can use this

The Maracyn medications are the BEST! I use I and II together and it has worked a number of times for me. smile.gif

I had a goldfish with dropsy, he got very sick immediately with popeye and dropsy. I tried every suggestion I've read online. He lived for about a week.
I was just wondering, why before and after he died he developed a blue/black area on the inside of his stomach. Did his liver or kidney burst, or was he bleeding internally? I know dropsy can affect the internal organs in a fish and was curious if anyone knew more about the internal affects of dropsy.
Thanks
