Hi, I'm new on these forums. Anyway, I have a panda oranda (1- inch) that I just got last Friday who has for the last two days taken to just sitting at the bottom of the tank. His friend (same size, the only other fish in the tank) swims around and seems find, but spends a lot of time sitting right next to him, but I don't think he's sick, maybe I'm wrong. They are both eating normally though.

Here's the details I can give:
10 gallon tank (don't worry, I know they will need a larger tank soon). Recently treated for ick when the betta that was in it got ick (betta has been seperated and is recovering). There has been a more than 50% water change prior to adding the goldfish last week. But, all the proper chemicals were added, still this might be causing a problem with nitrites/nitrates but I don't have a testing kit to check that right now.
The amonia level is 0, the PH falls exactly where it should, thought that took some work to get it down because St. Louis water is really hard water. The tank has been up since June, but it did have a significant water change like I mentioned. It has a filter rated for ten gallon tanks, I don't know the brand, but it was changed prior to adding new fish.

So, I'm wondering, is he just having a hard time getting used to this tank, or is he sick? None of my other fish (including angel fish) have every had a hard time with the water changes or tank changes, but this tank did have a fish with ick and the Jungle brand Ick treatment added in the last two weeks, still he shows no signs of ick. He doesn't have anything on him any where, he seems to eat fine, but I have not been able to observe any waste so I don't know about that. It took me almost a year to come across a Panda at our local fish stores, I don't want to loose him!

Thanks,
Casey

Perhaps one of the more experienced will have better options, but I'd say something's up? Perhaps an infection or something. If its not anything external, and you go with an antibiotic, you may want to consider the kind that they eat. I just bought some and it worked soooo much better in my tank. I forget the name of what I bought, but they had tetracycline and ampicillin. Hope he gets better soon.

maybe the bump will prompt a response from someone in the know.

I answered these questions in my post. I was hoping posting here would help me get answers before he goes, but he's getting worse and falling over on his side now.

To answer your original question he is sick due to most likely water issues and over crowding........leading to water issues.
As Koko asked, we need more information. We realize that you have only provided what you have, but that is it we need the other answers (as well as you need to know them) to help the fish.

Without knowing what the nitrites/nitrates and exactly what the ph is out of the tap as well as the tank, giving you advise is dangerous to the fish. Hopefully you understand. I guess you can look at it this way......you wouldn't go to the doctor and say "this is what my symptoms are, can't answer any more of your questions just give me a med to fix me".
Sorry that would be fool hearty as well as dangerous as I said above.

What we can offer to you now on what little info we have, is they need a bigger tank.
And water changes, provided you can get us the ph readings of both the tank and the tap.

Sorry that this isn't what you want to hear, but there are no easy answers.
