Oooh yes, we kept crayfish for a while. Red ones. they kept having eggs (so one maybe for the best! )they crawl out of the tank and walk around the house so be careful of that. I remember we made a little bridge so they could come up and walk over that...they seemed to have loads of energy biggrin.gif

Yesterday, I was in the living room talking on the phone with my grandmother when I noticed a small creature crawling on the carpet. It was my crayfish! krazy.gif It got out of the tank through a small opening between the aquaclear filter and the hood and walked from the computer room to the living room!

Trinket's prediction became true!!! I was lucky to find him... Fortunately, I told this story to a friend who had a spare eclipse 1 hood. Now it is impossible for the little fellow to leave his tank smile.gif I undersestimated him... Now I understand what JSrtist meant by a SECURE screen or glass lid exactly.gif

smile.gif I'm sorry, I was laughing while reading this. I remember the other thread where it was sugeested that every little place be sealed as they get out. It reminded me of the morning that I was going through the kitchen and saw something on the floor and it was one of my snails. He had some how gotten out of the 20 gal tank, off the kitchen counter(ouch!!) onto the floor and all the way across the kitchen floor! yikes.gif !

They can be quite the little travelers, exactly.gif

Yeah, they are clever little tricksters, my sister's yabbie got out of the tank and they couldn't find it, they thought the cat must have eaten yet. Weeks later they did find it, all shrivelled up under the couch. sad.gif

LOL, my cousin had one that got out too, he found him on the other side of his apartment under the bed in the spare bedroom!!

About a month later he called to tell me that he had TWO crayfish, and he was screaming thru the phone about it, thinking someone was messing with him. I can still hear him "I HAVE 2 CRAWDADS!!! I HAVE TWO CRAWDADS, WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON??!!" It was 2 minutes later that he realized the "second" crawdad was just a molted shell!!! rofl3.gif Funny stuff those little critters!!
Trinket

Yes they do that a lot too. Scared the life outta me when I firast saw the complete lookalike shell yikes.gif AND the original LOL..They do dry out if they are out of water too long so you have to be waryof the wanders.
Kingyo
Now I can remove the crayfish crossing sign from my living room rofl3.gif

Thanks for the heads up... I'll be ready when my crayfish "clones" itself rofl3.gif

It is a crayfish species from Australia

Oh, my goodnes! That's too funny. I haven't had snails or craw fish out and crawling, but I used to have a betta who kept wanting to go explore the world, and it took me several lids later to find something that my little houdini could jump out of.
