I just moved my big blue oranda Clarice from her wimpy little 15 gallon to a 120 gallon (Clarice is over 6 inches long). She swam around for a bit then went to the bottom for about 30 seconds and then started to swim wildly in circles, for just a few seconds. Then she'd relax, then glide to the bottom and sit there for about 5-10 seconds and swim wildly in circles a couple of times. Is she doing this because there is something wrong with the water or could it be she's just 'excited' (or possibly overwhelmed)? See, I put a common goldfish in earlier today to see how it would react, he/she was fine so I but the oranda in.. I know all my water readins are normal and the PH even matches that of her old tank. I also added a White Cloud Minnow (or something that looks like a WCM) into the tank and it has been living in the tank for about 4 or 5 hours with no trouble. Currently, she's on the bottom. She's still doing her crazy-swim but not as 'wildly'.
Thanks.

My oranda constantly does silly little twirls in the tank and then glides around. I think it's just excitement. I noticed he does it a lot after water changes and when he sees the bag of Pro Gold.

Better to see how she reacts in the next couple days. If she goes crazier, then you'll know there's a problem. Right now though, sounds like excitement about the new place!

If your water and pH are okay/same don't worry! It will be a shock to go from a smaller to a huge tank. Its natural that the fish is excited and shocked. In a good way. It may take her about 3 or 4 days to adjust to the new space, new lighting angles and tank arrangement. Did you also change the decor? One familiar ornament helps them orient themselves a little.
I just moved my fish to a bigger tank and they spent 4 days circling each other in a corner

That's nice to hear your Oranda got so much space to live in

Probably it's too excited with all that room to move around and tired with all that high speed swimming

Good luck and like Trinket says, if the water param;s are ok then there's nothing to worry....
