Ok I now have 11 girls in total! Talk about an addict! I don't have names for these girls yet, but I'm working on thinking up some good ones. These pictures are kind of bad because four of them are in translucent plastic tubs.

These first two I got a week or so ago. They were the leftovers from a local department store and I didn't want them to go homeless.

These next two came from a department store about an hour away that I was visiting. They are HUGE compared to my other girls and very beautiful.

These last two came from a petsmart an hour away.

I saved this next girl for last because I have two pictures of her. She is very special to me because of her backstory. A couple months ago my husband and I were in indianapolis scouting out petstores. It was a hot day and I wasn't really prepared to buy any fish, but there was one betta girl that really pulled at my heartstrings. She was a beautiful white with blue to pink fins and was very friendly and inquisitive. Also, she was missing an eye. I wanted to take her home so badly, but I knew that at the time I just couldn't. My husband said he was sure she'd find a good home because people have a soft spot for the underdog and I hoped he was right. Well, on my trip down there yesterday I remembered that they did have betta girls so I went to check them out. I picked out a particularly saucy gal up front and started digging through the cups to see if there was anyone else. I reached all the way to the back of the cup pile to take a look at the final girl, and who did I see but that sweet one eyed girl. I about cried. I of course had to buy her. When I was setting her up in her new temporary home I noticed that the cups had dates on them and hers was 6/21/06. She had been at the store for almost 3 months cry3.gif Well I don't know if she'll work out in my sorority tank, but if she doesn't I will set up her very own 5 gallon paradise so she'll never feel unwanted again.

and here she is...

What lovely fish Imber and good luck with the sorority tank, and please post pics of them together in the tank.

What a touching story for the last one. How about calling her June as she was there since June.

Congratulations on your new Bettas! They all look lovely. What a wonderful story about the last one - she is very sweet and sooo deserves the good home you will give her. I'm so glad you got her, it was obviously meant to be...
I agree with Sandy, June would be a befitting name for her smile.gif

your girls are so beautiful! I especially love your little one eyed girl and I'm happy you've got her cause she was meant to be yours. I like the idea of her name being June too, the birthstone for June is a pearl and she is white smile.gif

Thank you all for the replies and compliments! I think we are going to go with June for the name. Thanks for the suggestion! There was a delay on the arrival of my new tanks so the sorority pics will be a while. I want to quarantine all of the girlies and reseal their tank when I get the goldfish moved out of it(just to be safe) so it might take up to a month to get them sad.gif At least one of my girls had ich when I got her and a couple of them are clamping their fins at me and not eating so I think the quarantine is definitely a good thing.

Congratulations on your betta girls. They are all very beautiful and I am so glad that June is now in a loving home.

I set up a couple of tanks with female bettas several years ago. The first tank started out with 7 girls and it is now down to 2. I lost one at 2 years, then over the last few months I have lost the others. I am now down to the last 2. I have now had them 2 years and 8 months, so they are over 3 years old.

Good luck with your girl tank, and please keep us posted smile.gif
