hello all,

this morning i found 2 eggs with babies inside them...im pretty sure they're danios because i've been seeing breeding behavior from them for awhile now...How do i safely remove them?! i think they will hatch any minute now! I have an extra 5 gal and 3 gal that i could use...

congrats! biggrin.gif
Do you have a large syringe or turkey baster thingy that you could suck them up with?
Or you could syphon them into another tank?
YokulX
it would be safe to syphon them??

unsure.gif Do you happen to have a breeder's net?Where exactly are the eggs?
YokulX
No =/ i dont have a breeder net & the eggs are undeneath gravel next to the wall of the tank.

unsure.gif With the eggs that close to hatching,I'd be afraid any moving or syphoning might be a bit too much for them as fry are so vulnerable.Do you have lots of plants/hidey holes in the tank?

you don't transfer danio eggs. you should have put the breeders in a barebottom glass bowl with a layer of glass marbles on the bottom prior to their spawning. Failing that, your only other feasible option is to move the adults themselves. But I suppose you don't have a spare tank lying around empty...

there's one large structure(colliseum) and 5 large plastic plants

I decided to syphon the tank and i ended up with a little over a dozen fry...they are sitting in my 3 gallon tank in about 6 inches of water with a 1" airstone. I hope they make it unsure.gif

You should get some fry food for them, it usually comes in liquid form. You need to start feeding them that when they become free swimming (when they arent clinging to the sides/bottom of the tank). Before then, they are using up their egg sac.. which you might be able to see if you look closely smile.gif

I just bought First Bites by Hikari today, i recovered more fry today...have 30+ fry now...most of them are still clinging to the walls and the ground. I expect them to start freely swimming around tomorrow.
