I am thinking of plants in my new 55 gallon...and need to ask some q's to all you knowledgable plant people. Im useless at house plants so this has to be something very easy. Im looking for some grassy type plant that will sway and that the fish can hide behind, nothing too lettucelike...I mean grassy type leaves not larger leaves...mmmm..this is sounding weird!

I would also need them in pots I think as my goldies LOVE to dig the gravel up.

Any ideas...please?Also do you have to quarantine them and how do you do that?(I'll go and read up on that)

Many thanks smile.gif

Vallisnerias are tall undemanding grass-like plants... however, I have never been able to grow vallisnerias in my goldfish tank. They will eat and uproot them. My corkscrew vallisnerias were always kept a couple of inches tall blink.gif Other failures with my fish were Anubias (they did not eat them but broke of leaves by bumping into them), moneywort, hygrophyla polysperma, sagittaria.

I have had success with hornwort, Java fern, anacharis... Good luck!

Thanks for the reply Kingyo. I googled vallisnerias and it looks great! I don't mind if they nibble on it...they don't I presume eat it it all? ohmy.gif But don't know if I can find it here.
Will be out and about looking... biggrin.gif Thankies!

Onion Plants look similar to Vals, but they get really big. You might like those, and you can even buy the bulbs so you don't have to worry about disinfecting. Most aponogetons have tall thing leaves and you can also buy the bulbs. I've got straight vals and aponogeton crispus in my aquarium and I love both!
