.. it's just that they're swimming around in their own waste at the moment!

I'm completely feeding them too much.. I know that now.. but how much should I feed them?

how much should 1 fish eat each day?

cheers..
Ira
Here is the art - to feeding goldfish:
For small ones feed pre-soaked flakes. Pour in a little at a time so they get 2 or 3 mouthfuls only. Can do this twice daily.
For bigger fancy type goldfish - feed sinking pellets or floating pellets that you pre-soak. Crush the pellets with fingers first so you get the air out of them( even the sinking ones have air ) - then feed so they eat 2 or 3 pellets only. Can do this twice daily. In all cases try to avoid having any food stay in the tank - i.e. feed slowly so they eat it right away!
This is the best I know on how to feed them. Hope it helps you!

Some people use the pinch of food in the morning and make sure all food is
consumed in 2-3 minutes. Then at night is either treats or sinking pellets
gobbled up in the 2-3 minute time span. And of course all food is presoaked.
If your having a build up of poo, you may just want to vacuum the bottom a
little more often till everything balances out.

I feed a pinch of complete goldfish flakes, to my two medium fantails with a blackmoor in the morning. At night I feed them a pinch of spirula. Then I reverse the next day. After I clean their tank or on weekends I feed a pinch ( extra to the two pinches I give daily) Tropical Flakes. If they are sick I give them pellets or betta pellets if they don't eat the flakes.
