Gouramis arent the easiest of fish to keep as they are prone to all sorts of infections and diseases. They need the water to be perfect so test it for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph.

Dwarf gouramis aren't the most social of fish, so I'm sure your remaining fish will be okay as far as being alone goes. Do make sure the water quality is perfect in his tank because its possible he may be sick with something that the other fish had. Dwarf Gouramis aren't the most hardy fish, but if well taken care of, they can live about 5-8 years. Sandy knows what she's talking about.

I have had a male Blue Gouramis in a tank with out a buddy for years now,and he has done fine.I originally bought a couple sets of different types-not only did he kill them off-he killed his mate too.I bet I've had this fish for 8 years. He doesn't seem to mind not having a mate at all.
