Full Version: Dracenas Really Non-aquatic?
Forum > The Goldfish Topics > Goldfish Tanks > Goldfish plants, & how to set up a planted tank

Just wondering if anyone has experiences with these type of plants? I bought some from a store and have them in my aquarium for almost 1 year now. New leaves are growing. The lighter green (top left, bottom middle) got eaten by the goldfishes, the darker ones seem to be tougher. btw they are all submerged.

I've read on the net that Dracenas aren't aquatic ones, can someone give me more info? Lots of algae are on the leaves though...

smile.gif You can consider yourself lucky then ,for they are not considered "Aquatic".A few plants like Dracena Ribbon Grass and Mondo grass seem to be two popular ones..Usually they look pretty and last for a few months and then they begin to rot in the water which isn't good.I still don't know how they get away with selling plants like that as "Aquatic",but they do. rolleyes.gif

I had the first one pictured in my 10 gallon when I first started out and as Devs said, it began to rot and I had to remove them. Theyre very beautiful as potted plants though, out of water. smile.gif

Those do look very good for being submerged. Lucky bamboo is pretty much all the chain petstores sell now, but most of it is rotted away and isn't sold. I hope they learn soon!
