how can you tell ADFs and ACFs apart from each other. also if i get 2 frogs (ADFs) what size of tank would i need? do they need a long or can they be in a tall? do they eat freezedried bloodworms or frozen bloodworms and brineshrimp? any info on them would be great.

The adfs stay smaller and thinner, and have webbed front feet. Here's a page of more differences between the two.http://allaboutfrogs.org/info/species/clawedordwarf.html

The size of the tank depends on how many you keep and if you keep them with other fish. I think 5 gallons is a good minimum for 2 adfs alone. A long tank would be better since they need regular acess to the surface to breathe. ADFs love frozed bloodworms and pretty much everything else frozen. They may need to be coaxed into freeze dried foods if you want to feed those. It might be helpful to use a pair of tweezers to move the food around underwater near them so a) they know they are being fed because they can't see well and b) if it moves, they'll be more enticed to eat. They can be a bit skiddish so provide cover and a cave if possible.
Devs
The taller tanks make it a bit tough for the Adf's,for they have a need to come to the surface for air on occasion. I keep alot of plants in their tank that gives them resting spots and actually aids them in getting up to the surface too. They'll stop and rest on a plant, and then continue upwards to hit the surface.
My frogs will eat the freeze dried if that's all I have, but they much prefer the frozen bloodworms.
My frogs have actually learned to come to the top to feed also.
The most important thing is to watch them when you first get them,to make sure that they are figuring out the source of food and where it is.I have one tank with three in there. If I'm not mistaken,I have two girls and a boy.The girls are spot on when it comes to sniffing out the food and are nice and chubby, but I worry about the male.He is rather on the skinny side so I have been actually hand-feeding him lately,to make sure that he eats. smile.gif

I was told on another forum sometime back that there was a nasty illness going around with a lot of the froggies in stores, and to be sure to QT them for at least 2 months to make sure all is fine and they don't have it. I forget the name of the illness but it's supposed to be something that attacks slowly.

My little guys got along fine in my 5 gallon hex (I had a tall plant they liked to sit on near the surface), but I'm sure a long tank would be better.

Also, you can tell the difference between the ACFs and ADFs by their little feet. An ADF will have all 4 little feet webbed, the ACF won't. Also, the ADF's hind legs have 3 toes with little black claws.

Enjoy, if you get some! I miss my little guys, and I would like to get some more some day sad.gif
