I have a tank with four dojos and very fine sand for them, which they love. However, the problem I'm having is with constantly having to clean out the filter. The dojos kick up the sand while rough housing and playing, and some sand gets sucked into the filter. My filter is Aqua-Tech 20/40. Am I just stuck with constantly having to clean the filter, or is there something else I should use?

How far off the bottom does the intake go? My filters are around 4 inches off the tank base but unless they stop the internal workings of the filter then theres not much you can do.

It's about 8-9 inches which I thought would be high enough up there, but these guys are so vigorous in their digging that they kick up clouds of sand sometimes. I'll just have to keep up with the cleaning out of the filter housing.

So far, that's all I've been doing.I'm afraid that if I don't do it on a regular basis,I'll end up killing the filter, but it's worth it when you see how much the Dojo's appreciate the sand. biggrin.gif
