I have four dojos in a 29 gal tank, water parameters are good. I noticed one of the dojos has a spot on his nose. Looks almost like he "skinned" a small area. Has anybody ever seen something like this before? It does not look white like an infection and it does not look like a growth either.

He really is fine otherwise. He eats and he is active. He is the biggest one out of all four. I feed them Pro-Gold.

It could be damage from rooting around in the gravel to find food. I have seen something similar with corydoras catfish, especially if the gravel is rough. You have to be careful that it doesn't turn into a bacterial infection. With scaleless fish, the best bet would be to feed a medicated food, such as Medi-Gold. Would it be possible for you to get some of this?

Yes, I do have Medi-Gold. I also thought it might be from digging. They have aquarium sand. He is the biggest one of them and sometimes he shoots around like a speeding bullet. Maybe he ran into something.

Would it help to add a little salt? I know I can't add salt like for the GF, but would a small amount help?

Pristene water is a key factor for it not to go bacterial.
The thing about salt,is that Dojo's are considered "Scaleless fish",and most times you hear that salt isn't good for them.I personally don't salt any of the tanks that my Dojo's are in,but I have heard quite a few people say that they can withstand low doses of salt to 0.1%,and that their Dojo's did fine with that.
I guess it comes down to what you decide though. If you do decide to salt, make sure it's at a time when you can be around to watch over their reactions, etc, and deal with it accordingly.Slow dosing that 0.1% probably would be better.that way,if you see them start acting out of sorts, you can be there to start changing out water.
If it were me,I'd probably do the pristene water and the Medi-Gold. smile.gif
Anyway, good luck, and I hope the little guy will be fine. heartpump.gif

Thanks, I'll go ahead and skip the salt. I did a water change and I'm giving them Medi-Gold. Thanks for all the help! smile.gif

Please keep us posted on his progress gudluksn.gif

He is slowly healing. I would be easier if I could keep him in a "padded" aquarium since he still digs like a mad man, but I definitely see an improvement.
